PADI 5 Specialties + Advanced Open Water Diver

Five specialties. One pathway. An Advanced certification on top.

This programme is designed for divers who, after Open Water, want to go beyond a standard Advanced course and build a more complete diving education. Instead of simply trying five different Adventure Dives, you'll follow a pathway made up of five PADI Specialty courses, developing specific knowledge and skills in different areas of diving. The activities are integrated into the Advanced Open Water Diver pathway: by completing the required Adventure Dives and meeting the related requirements, you'll also earn the Advanced certification.

What you'll learn

Skills in five different areas of diving: from navigation to diving with enriched air, from observing the marine environment to boat diving, through to planning and managing deep dives.

One possible configuration of the programme includes:

  • PADI Underwater Navigator – natural navigation and compass use underwater.
  • PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver – correct use of enriched air mixes, managing MOD and oxygen exposure.
  • PADI Underwater Naturalist – observing and better understanding the aquatic environment and its organisms.
  • PADI Boat Diver – procedures, organisation and techniques for boat diving.
  • PADI Deep Diver – planning and carrying out deep dives to 40 metres.

The configuration can be tailored to your interests by choosing other specialties.

Course structure

For each specialty you'll complete the knowledge development, practical activities and number of dives required by the relevant PADI programme.

The pathway is organised in an integrated way: some specialty dives simultaneously meet the requirements of the corresponding Adventure Dives. For Advanced Open Water Diver, five Adventure Dives must be completed: Deep and Underwater Navigation are compulsory, plus three electives.

At the end, once all PADI Standards requirements are met, you'll earn the five Specialty certifications and the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

Prerequisites

  • PADI Open Water Diver or a recognised equivalent.

What's next

With five Specialties and Advanced, all you need for Master Scuba Diver is Rescue Diver and 50 logged dives.
