PADI Master Scuba Diver
The highest level in recreational diving.
PADI Master Scuba Diver is a rating, not a course: you earn it by bringing together the milestones you've already reached along your path. There are no classes to attend. It's a true record of your diving experience, in a single certification.
How to earn it
- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification
- PADI Rescue Diver certification
- 5 PADI Specialty certifications of your choice (e.g. Nitrox, Night, Deep, Photography, Buoyancy)
- At least 50 logged dives
Timing varies from a few weeks to several months, depending on how much you dive and which certifications you already hold.
Prerequisites
Open Water, Advanced and Rescue certifications must be PADI or recognised as equivalent; the 5 specialties must be PADI.
What it means for you
It's the highest level in recreational diving, before moving on to the professional path (Divemaster). Fewer than 2% of divers ever reach it.
