PADI Open Water Diver + Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver

What you'll learn

In the Open Water Diver course you'll learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, how to use and manage your equipment, and the techniques needed to plan and carry out recreational dives. You'll progressively develop the skills to control your buoyancy, breathe and move underwater, manage your equipment and correctly handle the main situations that can arise during a dive.

On top of this, the PADI Enriched Air Diver programme teaches you to use nitrox mixes correctly, analyse the oxygen content of your cylinder, understand oxygen exposure limits and maximum operating depth (MOD), and set your dive computer correctly.

Once certified as an Open Water Diver, you can dive with a buddy within the limits of your training and, for adults, to a maximum depth of 18 metres.

Course structure

• Open Water theory (PADI eLearning): independent study of the fundamentals of diving, with knowledge reviews, quizzes and a final exam.
• Enriched Air (Nitrox) training: additional training in the use of enriched air, integrated into the Open Water pathway, with the knowledge development and practical exercises set out in the PADI programme.
• Confined water: 5 training dives/sessions in a pool or suitable environment.
• Open water: 4 training dives in the sea or another open-water environment.

Nitrox training can be integrated into the Open Water pathway; no additional nitrox dives are required to earn the Enriched Air Diver certification. Overall length depends on scheduling and your progress.

Prerequisites

• Adequate water skills and compliance with PADI medical and fitness-to-dive requirements.
• No previous diving experience required.
